Fell Swoop has returned to racing in career-best form this time and has been included in 2016 BTC Cup nominations.

Posting nine wins and a further three minors through fourteen career starts so far, Fell Swoop capped an impressive 2015 campaign with consecutive wins in the Listed Cup Club Stakes (1200m) and Listed Testa Rossa Stakes (1200m).

Resuming this year for second in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m), the Not A Single Doubt gelding progressed to fourth in the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) before again finishing second in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) on Day 1 of The Championships.

Having returning to winning form in the Group 2 Victory Stakes (1200m) at Doomben a fortnight ago, Fell Swoop is poised to be partnered by last start hoop Jay Ford in the BTC Cup.

Chris Waller is set to launch a multi-pronged attack on the Doomben feature on Saturday after including all of Counterattack, Delectation and Japonisme in BTC Cup nominations.

Claiming three wins and six minors through fourteen career starts so far, Counterattack capped an impressive debut year a credible third in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) in late October.

Resuming this time for third in the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) on February 6th, the Redoute’s Choice colt failed to make up the distance late when fifth in the Listed Darby Munro (1200m) but savaged the line for a close second in the Group 2 Arrowfield Sprint (1200m) last time out on April 9th.

Delectation has produced a number of impressive efforts through something of an inconsistent racing career so far, but has the class to win any race on his day.

Capping his 2015 campaign with a huge performance to win the Group 1 Darley Classic (1200m), Delectation has failed to find peak condition through three starts this time but will relish a step back in class for the Brisbane Winter Carnival features.

Arguably Waller’s best chance of success in the BTC Cup, Japonisme stormed home to win the Coolmore Stud Stakes in impressive fashion and has returned this time in similarly-scintillating form.

Running a close third in the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (1000m) on February 20th, Japonisme ran a luckless fifth in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) on March 12th before charging home for third in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) on March 24th.

Having returned to winning form in the Arrowfield Sprint last time out, Japonisme will be treated particularly well in the weights as a three-year-old.

The 2016 BTC Cup field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
