The Group 2 BTC Cup is due to run at Doomben Racecourse on Saturday May 12, 2012.

The 2012 BTC Cup takes place on BTC Cup Day and shares its program with the Group 3 Rough Habit Plate, Group 3 Chairman’s Handicap and Listed Hampden Stakes.
Buffering will run in the Group 1 BTC Cup after having his first-up start in the Group 2 Victory Stakes, in what will be the same preparation as last year.
The four-year-old gelding finished third in last year’s BTC Cup behind Black Caviar and Hay List and is likely not to meet wither of them in this year’s race.
Trainer Robert Heathcote said Buffering was progressing well on his way to the 2012 BTC Cup.
“Buffering worked well at Eagle Farm this morning and will run next in the Victory Stakes before the BTC Cup,” Heathcote said.
“I’m looking forward to it as he won’t be up against Black Caviar or Hay List this time.”
Buffering has won eight of his 23 race starts and has earned more than $1.24 million in prize money.
The Mossman gelding placed in all three of his Group 1 runs this autumn, with his impressive a nose second to Hay List in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap.
